I Need Help with An Apology

by Stacey
(UK Midlands)

Last night me and my boyfriend had an argument. I caused it, it was over something stupid however he totally blew it out of proportion. Things got out of hand and we were both really upset.

He said two things in particular that really hurt me. Firstly he said that i didn't know him at all (which I don't think is true as we have been together for a year and half) but he then went on to say that I could do a lot worse than him (as if to say that he was too good for me) he said sorry.

This morning I apologised once again and so did he however my head is in a mess and I'm upset, I thought he had more respect for me than that and it's beginning to eat me up.

I don't know what to do or how to move on in the relationship....

stupid things
by: I'm with me, myself and stupid

Your story sounds a lot like mine. I have been with my boyfriend for about 1 year and a half. We fight like once a month about trivial matters. Often, I end up feeling stupid because he and I wasted our energy for nothing. I would never let such matters lead to a break up. Don't let temporary matters ruin something that could lead to a permanent relationship.

He was mad at the time so don't worry he said that because you don't know everything about someone in less than 2 years, and what he meant by you could do worse, is that there are other guys out there who are not as nice as him.

He didn't mean he was better...he wants you to think about it and realize that he is a nice guy maybe not the nicest but you could always have a worse boyfriend who doesn't even apologize. My advice is to look at the nice things he has done for you and you will forget what was said... don't worry he loves you!

It's all you can do

As long as your apology was sincere it is all you can do. People make mistakes and we apologize for them and most importantly learn from them so that we don't do the same thing again.
